"Born and raised in Vancouver, I was consistently creatively active whether in music, theatre, or the visual arts. High school art class along with private instruction from Arts Umbrella and many others, made it clear to me where my passions lay. After taking a few years off to see the world, I was accepted into the Emily Carr Fine Arts program. A slew of fabulous instructors in the formative first years helped me to realize my love for paint. There began my exploration of the things dearest to me.

Growing up in a home managed by a mother with a green thumb and parents with a keen eye for design, the house was abundantly full of fresh flowers, beautiful things and people coming and going.

I am interested in taking familiar objects and examining them in a new way, allowing the viewer to reencounter them; close up, out of context and reframed. Cultivating experience through travel, music, accessory design, cooking and photography, provides the inspiration that fuels my love for painting."

Brie Neilson is currently living in Montreal, Quebec as a practicing artist. She is developing her skills and style. She has participated in art fairs including the East Side Culture Crawl. Her work is in a number of private collections.
