Jochi

"Reflections is a collection of photographs that explores the dichotomy of a city's abstracted views captured from within; the composition of each image is created by the very architecture which becomes the subject matter."

Jochi was born May 4, 1944 in Marburg/Drau, and spent his formative years in Murau, Styria and Salzburg, Austria. As an adult, he lived in many countries across Europe and Africa before finally settling in Canada in 1970.

Painting has been a life long passion and Jochi has exhibited his artwork throughout Europe and North America; much of that work now resides in private collections all over the world.

Recently, Jochi has captured a different vision. Working on a photographic series entitled Reflections, the artist allows his eye to wander through Canadian and European cities, capturing the reflections within windows that are so often overlooked. He concentrates on abstracted views - beautiful illusions of irregularity presented in the panes of glass which constitute and define a city and its architecture.
