Born on Saltspring Island in British Columbia, Tanya continues to extend and refine elements of her artistic processes after nineteen years of study and application. She completed her undergraduate work with Honours in Fine Arts and the History of Art at the University of Victoria and holds a Masters Degree in Aesthetics and History of Art from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom. Preparations for a 2007 exhibit in Vancouver, BC, Dubai, UAE, London, UK, New York, and Miami are underway.

"I am interested primarily in the formal qualities of painting: colour, texture, surface and composition. I am ceaselessly exploring through subtle washes, fading progressions and glazes. Ambiguous residues, depth and layers in texture are integral to my work. Each painting is the result of meditative subtraction and addition through layering. I use a variety of media including marble dust, acrylic polymer resins, acrylics, and oil pigments. My process means to push three tenets: simplicity, timelessness, and the transparent. Commonly installed without traditional framing, my compositions carry over to the the edges of the canvas. This approach sometimes gives the work a sculptural aspect."

The aesthetic and functional requirements of a space are best captured from within that space. The process of Haute Peinture involves an on-site consultation to determine a client's aesthetic, functional, and dimensional requirements for commissioned paintings.
